Multi-trades

With the State Prosperity Project set to create unprecedented demand for skilled workers, it’s an exciting time to embark on a career in trades in the wider Upper Spencer Gulf region.

The multi-trades industry training program will help you develop a range of sought-after skills and kickstart a career as a tradesperson. The program will develop skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding and more, to prepare for a variety of in-demand careers in the region.

The program also includes a focus on sustainability and renewable sources of energy including solar, wind and hydropower.

  • Work safely and first aid
  • Employability skills
  • Workplace preparedness.

What you’ll achieve

  • Develop some hands-on technical skills
  • Gain an understanding of the career opportunities and pathways in the industry, and develop your own career action plan
  • Understand and develop employability skills
  • Gain experience with employers in the industry
  • Complete introductory training courses including White Card and First Aid
  • Complete the SACE subjects: Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) and Workplace Practices.

  • Achieve competency in industry recognised technical skills
  • Identify and prepare for your preferred career pathway
  • Further develop employability skills in preparation for the workplace
  • Gain further experience with employers in the industry
  • Complete vocational education and training short courses in carpentry, engineering, electrotechnology and plumbing
  • Complete the SACE subjects: Activating Identities and Futures (AIF) and Workplace Practices
  • Be ready to transition into an apprenticeship in year 12.

  • Further develop your technical skills and knowledge or
  • Commence the first year of your apprenticeship in the workplace
  • Complete your SACE in collaboration with your home school.

Having completed year 1 of an apprenticeship while at the technical college, you can transition straight into the second year of your apprenticeship.
