Port Augusta Technical College is planned to open in 2025.

Co-located and run in conjunction with Port Augusta Secondary School, students at the technical college can get a head start to a career in 1 of 4 in-demand industry specialisations:

The technical college will provide students in years 10, 11 and 12 with access to programs on a part-time basis while enrolled in their home school, with onsite accommodation available. Applications are welcome from students of public or private schools.

Short-stay student accommodation

Port Augusta Technical College offers modern and secure onsite accommodation for students from across the Upper Spencer Gulf, Eyre Peninsula, Mid North, Far North and APY Lands.

Students can stay and attend the college for periods of time, in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Student accommodation includes:

  • furnished room
  • internet access
  • amenities (communal kitchen, media and activity room, and more)
  • social activities and events
  • 24/7 staff support and supervision.

The accommodation houses up to 44 students at a time and is located on the first floor of the College building. It features 11 separate pods, each containing 4 beds and shared bathroom facilities.

Students will generally stay for week-long blocks, arriving on a Sunday evening and departing on Friday around midday. Staff   are on duty 24 hours per day, 7 days per week within the accommodation, which also features security systems and vape sensors.

You’ll develop the technical and employability skills  and gain real-life work experience opportunities and mentorship with employer partners.

Civil, resources and infrastructure

We have partnered with global mining giant BHP and Hallett Group to develop training for careers in some of South Australia’s fastest growing industries - mining and construction.

  • earthworks
  • machinery operation and maintenance
  • landscaping
  • concreting and kerbing.

We have partnered with Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (EFNLHN), Flinders Upper North Local Health Network (FUNLHN), and Helping Hand to develop training for careers in the in-demand health and social support sectors.

  • rehabilitation techniques
  • infection control.
